Id like to share a few things with everyone just to let you all know things that I have experienced and really want to write about. :) So the first thing was well I have a little dog shes a Jack Russell shes 8 years old. I love her to bits well what happened was her tummy was making all sorts of noises and she was sick a few times it didnt really bother me at first I just thought she was unwell and she would get over it...well I was on MSN talking to a friend of mine and Ellie (my dog) was needing out for the toilet then there was a god awful smell. I went and had a look and she had diarrhea where she was standing and it was red just pure blood well I nearly had a fit...she thought she was going to get in trouble for doing the toilet in the house and looked all sorry for herself...once i had just cleaned it up there was another...I decided at that point to phone the vet as she was to me very ill. The vet had an appointment for me that day so that was great. I waited for my son to get home from school and had to tell him on way down to vet but really I didnt have to tell him he saw for himself that not long up the street and she was sick then she decided that she had to go to the toilet and it was pure blood. Well he started to very and was visably upset...hes 13 and loves Ellie. I tried to make sure he was ok and told him she would be fine and the vet would sort her out..I didnt know this but I had to make sure he was ok.
In the vets surgery they told me apparently it was quite common for dogs to bleed from the back end when they are not well. I did not know this. It turned out she had a particularly nasty tummy bug and the vet gave her 2 injections ! was antibiotics and the other was an antisickness jag...now that cost me a fortune but anything to get her well again...then they gave me an appointment for the following day just to see how she was well..I was walking home and she was still straining for the toilet but she was ok and then all of a sudden she developed all of a sudden a limp..that made me smile because there was nothing wrong with her legs. What she wanted was to be picked up haha so yes like an idiot I carried her the rest of the way home...she was very sleepy and wow she was cold. Very cold and she wouldnt warm up at all even with a hot water bottle in her bed and a blanket over her. She was fine just very sleepy. All the next day she slept too only going outside for the toilet a few times..then it was time to take her to the vet again..she was a lot perkier which was great.When we got into the vets surgery I picked her up and put her onto the table and the vet looked at her and saw she was just back to her little lively self and was very happy with her recovery so what he did was give her another shot of antibiotics in the back of her neck...when he had done this she put her paws around my neck and buried her head it was so sweet even the vet and his assistant said "awww shes lovely" it was great to see her back to herself but really she wasnt fully better she was still very sleepy. I had no problem with her walking home this time "Drama Queen" haha. We got her home and she slept the whole night...This bug rea;;y took a lot out of her..once she was a lively little thing then she got this and she was floored. Then the day after that she was totally back to normal and she even went outside and did her business...I dont think iv been so happy to see her do a poo haha It was solid and to me she was back. I had to not feed her for the first 24 hours then gently feed her little and often which im still doing right now as it was only the other day she was at the vet.
Please if you have a dog and they show these symptoms take them to the vet then you can say you have read this and know the symptoms...her gums were also very pale.
She is back to normal now though...It absolutely exhausted me I think i was overly emotional and it took its toll on me.
